An unexpected visitor

We had an unexpected visitor of the four legged type come and stay with us this summer. Here's what happened.

A few weeks ago my mum was out talking to some neighbours when a white stray dog appeared. She was gorgeous and looked like a West Highland Terrier. But she was filthy and malnourished. It seemed that this little dog had taken a shine to my mum. And on finding our gate open she decided that we were to become her new family.

Unfortunately we couldn't keep her, as we already have Bobby (my dog) and a grumpy cat. We decided to foster her until she found a permanent home. I knew it wouldn't be long until she did, as she was a lovely dog. But until she found one, she stayed in our front patio and was given food and water, as well as a blanket so she could snuggle. She stayed with us for 2 days.

During the weekend at kind neighbour called on us saying they had bought some dog shampoo and was willing and able to give her a bath, she collected her after lunch and said she would return “Poppy” as I had christened her later in the day. But Poppy never returned because with her cute little face and adorable attics she won over our lovely neighbours in just a short period of time.

I'm thrilled she got a new home and I am happy that she is so close by. She now has a caring family. She got the happy ending she deserved, but there are so many cats and dogs out there that are not so lucky.

I don´t know for certain if she was abandoned or lost but all pets become part of the family and as the Walt Disney film Lilo and Stitch says “Ohana” means family, family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.

Remember you're pets are you're family they just like wearing furry suits.

Here are a few photos of her:
She's such a cutie :)

How depressing is it to know that summer is nearly over, and that we'll all be going back to school or Uni? I for one am so nervous, because I still don't know if I've gotten into university, and if I have then I'm going to have to move to a big new city. All on my own.

A cake baking disaster

Baking. It's such a fun and relaxing experience, don't you think? I love it. It gives me something to do from time to time and also gives me more culinary skills (which are very limited). So as it's my mum's birthday, it was only fit that over the weekend I'd make her a cake. What I didn't expect was help. From my dear old Dad.
Normally, when me and my Dad are cooking together, things don't always go according to plan. There are usually arguments, not to mention things going wrong and the ending result will be someone going off in a strop, that person would usually be me. And this time round was no different.

The morning began well, with both of us having had breakfast, it was then time to start baking. Whilst I was getting the utensils out, Dad got the ingredients that would be needed. Mum had wanted a chocolate sponge cake with buttercream, and her wish was our command.

As I was measuring out quantities, I asked dad to read the instructions. It wasn't until we'd put all the ingredients in all in one go, that I read the instructions. We'd made a HUGE mistake. Instead of shoving the whole lot into a mixing bowl, we had to add each ingredient gradually. To say I was annoyed was an understatement, I was fuming. This was meant to be my Mum's birthday cake, and somebody (meaning my Dad) had completely ballsed up. The mixture was supposed to be smooth and liquidy, instead it was doughy. This cake was going to be a disaster.

The mixture was divided and put into the oven. There was nothing we could do, other than hope and pray that the cake turn out ok. As it was cooking the "blame game" started. I was adamant that I was NOT going to be blamed for not reading the instructions properly. But I'll admit that I should of read them before my Dad.

Anyway, to cut a long story short. The cake took far to long to cook, but turned out to of baked well. Then I went along and ruined it further by attempting to decorate it. All in all it was a complete disaster. It wasn't relaxing at all, more like stressful, but it was a lesson to be learnt.

So as I come to a close on this entry, a few words of advice to all women; Always read the instructions yourself and NEVER EVER let a man interfere when it comes to baking.

Until next time

Hello there | Lifestyle

Hello there and welcome to my blog! As I'm new here I probably should introduce myself.
Hi! my name's Claire, I'm 19 and I was born and raised in the UK. When I was 10 my parents decided to move to the south of Spain taking me with them. Nine years later I'm still living and kinda loving Spain. I have just finished high school, and  I'm now looking to go to Uni and study a degree in journalism.

Ok so that the basics done. Now let's get down to the nitty and gritty stuff about Miss Claire Thomas

I was born on a cold Friday morning on 14th January in 1994. Which makes me a Capricorn.

I am known to be a very shy person and at times I can come off as a bit stand-offish, but to those who know me best I can never shut up.

Friends and family give me weird nicknames like : Claireruchi, Clara Bara or the normal Claire Bear and Clairey.

I'm quite tall, blonde and have blue eyes (which are the envy of all my friends as they all have brown eyes). I'm also an only child - sometimes I wish I had an older brother, but I can't complain.

I read all the time, whether it being a book, newspaper, stories online or even blogs. I'm always reading. I also write a monthly column for a free English magazine. You could say that writing is my passion. Writing is my haven, I feel safe, if that makes sense.

My favourite colour is blue or pink, depending on my mood.

My favourite TV show is Made in Chelsea. It's a reality show which lets you into the lives of many different people. I don't really like reality TV, but Made in Chelsea is one of the best. It's addictive.

I listen to a lot of music, ranging from One Direction, Coldplay, Calvin Harris to Nicki Minaj and Glenn Miller.

I may have tiny obsession when it comes to guys, but hey I'm a girl.

I don't class myself as a fangirl, just someone who likes a certain band or singer. I don't mind other people fan girling, but its just something I wouldn't do.

Twitter is my life. As well as Facebook and Instagram.

Oh...and yes I am single :(

Right I think that's about it for now, if you want to know anything else about me then feel free to ask.

Talk to you guys soon

Claire x

P.S  This is me :)
